Burgundy Barrel Aged Scotch Silly

This is a special release from Brasserie de Silly, a one-time offering of the brewery’s famous Scotch Silly ale, aged in a particular type of barrel, the variety of which varies each year. In previous years they released Bourbon-, Bordeaux-, and Cognac-barrel-aged versions, but the 2016 version is aged in Burgundy barrels. It combines the rich, caramel impact of its Scotch Silly base with fruity, vinous counterpoints from that residual barrel character. Each year Brasserie de Silly takes their famous Scotch Silly brand and ages it in a different style barrel. 2016 features Scotch Silly aged in Burgundy Barrels from the Nuits-Saint-George region of France . This deep dark colored scotch ale is a perfect blend of caramelized malt and candied sugar from the mother beer with the flavor coming from the Burgundy barrel to produce a brew that explodes with flavor.
